Here are ten ways to get your glow on, when you’re looking distinctly glow-less.
Some mornings you wake up feeling less than tropical, you know? You might’ve had an early night, no Pinot, and the cleanest of dinners but you look in the mirror and just think ” Eugh”. Here are ten ways to get your glow on, when you’re looking distinctly glow-less.
1. Get up and get moving.
Lying in bed, playing Candy Crush is NOT the way to start the morning. You’ll spend the day thinking about flying fish and “if I’d only had one more move”.
If you have to lie in bed messing with your iPhone, avoid the mind-numbing games and fill your Instagram full of inspirational people to follow. There’s nothing like seeing beautiful beaches, sunrises and cute kittens to set your mood for the day.
2. Use an uplifting shower gel
and give your bod a bloody good scrub. Try anything with grapefruit, or lemon both of which have mood enhancing properties. Clarins Eau de Jardins Uplifting shower gel is delicious, but at $42.00 a bottle, it’s probably not an everyday choice.
The new Satsuma Body Wash from The Body Shop smells divine and is bound to get even the most sluggish of us moving.
3. Slather yourself in a refreshing body lotion.
The lotion below has Tarocco Orange, Eucalyptus and Sage to freshen and condition the skin. Who doesn’t want to be fresher AND smoother straight out the shower?
4. Use a facial moisturiser that has an inbuilt glow
like Aveeno’s Positively Radiant SPF15 (you’ll need a facial sunscreen as well in summer). It’ll just give your skin that well rested, plumped up look that we all yearn for.
5. Find an under eye concealer that lightens and brightens.
Look for one that promises brightening – my current favourite is Rimmel’s Match Perfect Concealer which is a brightener and concealer in one. It comes in three shades so you can get the perfect match, and is around ten bucks from Priceline.
6. Skip the heavy base and apply a pinky coral blush
smile, and apply to just above the apples of your cheeks. When you stop smiling, the flush of color will be in exactly the right place.
7. It’s all about the gloss.
I know lots of people recommend a bright pop of color on the lips to lift your mood, but on aging lips it can be the wrong choice. An easier, and quicker pick-me-up is a sheer gloss with plenty of fine sparkle. It’s youthful and easy enough to apply at the traffic lights.
I love Revlon Colourburst glosses, particularly Peony, shown below. You can pick up this for around $14.
8. Wear your favorite scent.
Whether it be an uplifting, feel good fragrance like Clarins’ Eau Dynamisante, or one that brings back fabulous memories, choose one that makes you feel good. I’m currently wearing Donna Karan’s Be Delicious which is fresh and light – perfect for these 40 degree days we’re having.
9. Wear something today that you know you feel great in.
It doesn’t matter if you wore it yesterday, or if you normally save it for nights’ out. Wear it and revel in the mood-boosting compliments all days.
10. Finally, smile!
You may feel like swearing at the driver in front, or punching your boss, but try and past I’m a smile and you’ll look and feel a lot better. I hope these tips have inspired you and HAVE A GREAT DAY!
